Billionaire Elon Musk, the main donor in the 2024 elections that helped boost the path of President Donald Trump towards victory, said Tuesday that he plans to reduce his political spending in the future.
“In terms of political spending, I’m going to do much less in the future,” Musk said when asked in the Qatar economic forum if he still intended to play an important role in the first mareros of 2026.
When asked why, the richest man in the world replied: “I think I have done enough.”
“If I see a reason to make political expenses in the future, I will,” Musk added. “I don’t see a reason currently.”
The comments mark the first time Musk said he plans to step back to put his fortune behind the political candidates, after seeing more than $ 200 million of his own money in the 2024 race.
Musk’s comments seem to be a reversal, and could have a great impact on the mid -period elections of 2026.
After Trump’s victory in 2024, Musk said his Pac America would play an important role in future elections, including couples.

“Normally, the PACs become something inactive after a great choice,” he tweeted at that time. “@America Pac will do the opposite and continue to grind, increasing republican records in key districts throughout the country, in preparation for special elections and partial exams.”
Representatives of Musk’s America Pac declined to comment to ABC News about Musk’s comments on Tuesday. Sources close to Musk’s political operation previously told ABC News that the billionaire planned to remain active in the next elections.
Although Musk was the greatest donor of the Republican party in 2024 and many see it as having played an important role in Trump’s election, some within the Republican Party and within the Trump circle have begun to see him as a responsibility. The Democrats have assumed their role with Dege as a meeting point during the first months of Trump’s first mandate, launching national protests against the group and their government start efforts.
Since the Trump administration was joined as Dux Chief, and after everything in the Wisconsin Supreme Court career earlier this year and losing, Musk’s political participation has decreased significantly when sources close to the billionaire say that he has been frustrated more and more with Washington and with the raised attacks of his companies, which include Tesla and Twitter.
In recent weeks, Musk has backed away from his daily work in Dege and the White House, sources told ABC News. He has tweeted much less about politics and has been spending only one day a week in Washington. During that time, Tesla’s shares have increased more than 50%.
