New York Police Search for Person Who Left Newborn Baby Girl in Subway Station

New York City police have released images of the person they say left a newborn baby girl at a midtown Manhattan subway station during the morning rush hour on Monday.

The unknown person left the girl wrapped in a blanket on the platform of the southbound 1 train at the 34th Street-Penn station around 9:04 a.m. Monday, the New York Police Department said. The person then fled on foot, police said.

The baby was reported through an anonymous tip, and New York police and fire personnel responded, New York City Transportation President Demetrius Crichlow told reporters.

The baby was conscious and alert on the way to the hospital and was admitted in stable condition, police said.
