The FBI is working with the Justice Department to see if there is “anything more” from Jeffery Epstein’s files that can be made public, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.

patel told journalist Catherine Herridge there are “protective orders and sealing orders that legally prohibit the release of information related to any investigation when there is such a court order,” when asked if the Justice Department would meet the Dec. 19 30-day deadline to release materials required under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Attorney General Pam Bondi told ABC Chief Supreme Court Correspondent Pierre Thomas last week that there was new information that had come to light in the files, but she declined to say what that new information was. He said the Justice Department “will continue to follow the law” regarding what is released.

Patel was also asked about the president’s recent call for the Justice Department to investigate Jeffery Epstein’s relationship with Democrats, and whether that would limit its investigation to just Democrats.

“We’ll just follow the facts,” Patel responded. “It’s pretty simple for this FBI.”

Bondi ordered the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York to investigate Democrats’ relationship with Epstein after President Trump essentially told him to do so.

“Based on the new referral, we will look at that and see what evidence emerges, but there is an important distinction: information that the government possesses versus information that Epstein’s estate possesses,” Patel said. “Those are two separate boxes of information, and Epstein’s estate has not been willing to share information with the United States government, even though we have asked them to do so.”

Regarding how many of Epstein’s files would be redacted and to what extent, Patel said the FBI is “always” committed to doing as few redactions as possible “while always upholding the rights of victims.”
