After the Justice Department on Friday released thousands of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in a tranche that included several decades-old photographs of former President Bill. Clinton, spokesman for clinton On Monday he invoked all the files related to clinton to be released.
In a statement, Clinton spokesman Angel Ureña accused the Justice Department of using selective disclosure of Epstein documents to implicate wrongdoing where there is none, challenging the department to immediately release any remaining material mentioning or showing Bill Clinton in the files.
Ureña, a spokesperson for Clinton, wrote on Monday that the content and method with which the Department of Justice has released the files makes it “clear” that “someone or something is being protected.”
“We don’t know who, what or why,” Ureña wrote. “But we do know this: We don’t need that protection.”
“Accordingly, we call on President Trump to direct Attorney General Bondi to immediately release any remaining materials that reference, mention, or contain a photograph of Bill Clinton,” Urea added.
Ureña alleged that if the Justice Department does not do so, it would confirm suspicions that the Department is selectively releasing data to “imply wrongdoing about people who have already been repeatedly acquitted by the same Department of Justice, over many years, under presidents and attorneys general of both parties.”
He initial release of files Friday contained numerous old photographs of Epstein traveling with Clinton, including photographs of clinton lounging in a hot tub and one of him swimming with Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence following her 2021 conviction for sex trafficking of minors and other crimes.
The images were published without any context or background information.
On Friday Ureña had written in a statement“The White House hasn’t been hiding these files for months just to get rid of them late on a Friday to protect Bill Clinton. This is about protecting themselves from what comes next, or what they will try to hide forever. So they can release as many grainy 20+ year old photos as they want, but this isn’t about Bill Clinton. It never has, it never will.”
The Justice Department has defended both its process and the timing of the files’ release, saying in a statement Sunday that more than 200 lawyers were working “around the clock” to review the files for release.

“The Department of Justice is committed to transparency and to writing only what is legally required,” the department said in a statement. “The Department is required by law to redact identifying information about victims, minors or potential victims, as well as privileged material. NO redactions have been or will be made to protect famous people or politically exposed people.”
A law signed by President Donald Trump in November required that all files related to federal investigations into the disgraced financier be released by Friday, December 19. has been posting files since that deadline, but did not fully meet that deadline in the publication of all material related to Epstein, and what has been published so far is a fraction of the files.
The Justice Department has faced backlash from victims and lawmakers for its slow filing of the files. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, appearing Sunday on NBC’s Meet the press with Kristen Welkerdefended the department’s slow release of the files, saying they wanted to continue reviewing the documents to “protect victims.”
“It’s very simple and very clear: the statute also requires us to protect victims, so the reason we are still reviewing documents and continuing our process is simply that: to protect victims… we are going through a very methodical process with hundreds of attorneys going through every document and making sure that the victims’ names and any victim information is protected and redacted,” Blanche said.
Some of Epstein’s victims and their lawyers have also said that redactions in the released files have not been sufficient and that some victims’ identities have been exposed. On Sunday, two lawyers representing more than 200 survivors of Epstein and his convicted co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, told ABC News that they had been hearing from clients who had seen their names or other identifying information in documents not redacted in the Justice Department disclosure.

The former president traveled with Epstein several times, according to flight logs from Epstein’s private jets that were made public during the civil litigation against Epstein. Those records showed that Clinton and his entourage had taken four international trips in 2002 and 2003 on the financier’s Boeing 727 to places such as Bangkok, Brunei, Rwanda, Russia, China and elsewhere.
President Donald Trump was asked Monday if he was surprised by the number of Clinton photos in the files.
Trump said he has always gotten along well with Bill Clinton, adding, “I hate to see pictures of him come out, but this is what the Democrats are asking for, mostly Democrats and a couple of bad Republicans. So they gave me his pictures too. Everyone was friendly to this guy.” [Epstein]. Friendly or not friendly, but you know, he was around. “He was all over Palm Beach and other places.”
(Trump himself has denied knowledge of Epstein’s alleged crimes and said at the time of Epstein’s arrest in 2019 that they had not spoken in 15 years; he has also talked about kicking Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago.)
