Authorities named a person of interest after the discovery of human remains at a San Diego property sparked an ongoing investigation by police and prosecutors, authorities said.
In a news release, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office said Dwight William Rhone, 74, a former tenant at the property, is a person of interest in the investigation.
The case began with an investigation by California Highway Patrol detectives, who suspected there were human remains on the property in the Southcrest neighborhood, San Diego police said.

The district attorney said Rhone is already detained and charged with the murder of a man, Bernardo Moreno. Prosecutors did not provide further details about the murder charge.

Multiple agencies, including the FBI, served a search warrant at the property Tuesday and found the remains, police said. It is unknown if the remains belong to multiple people.
The identity and cause of death have not been revealed.
