The mother of a newborn baby found abandoned in a midtown Manhattan subway station has been arrested, police said.
Assa Diawara, 30, was arrested early Wednesday in Queens on charges of child abandonment and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the New York Police Department.

The girl was found wrapped in a blanket on the platform of the southbound 1 train at the 34th Street-Penn station during the morning rush hour Monday, police said.
The baby was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said, along with New York City Transportation President Demetrius Crichlow. calling it “the miracle of 34th Street.”
