The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, signed the bill redesigning the map of the Texas Congress, said Friday. Democrats said the maps unfairly point out and marginalize color voters. Dozens of Democratic legislators in the House of Representatives of Texas left the State for weeks in early August to stop a special legislative session convened by Abbott that included redistribution of districts as an article on the agenda.

They returned after the Republican leaders finished that early session, and after the governor of California Gavin Newsom and the Democratic leaders revealed plans so that the Californians vote on new maps that favor the Democrats in November.
