The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, shared new details about the deadly mass shooting on Monday in a Manhattan office building that left four dead people and a wound, describing the incident as an “act of intentional, sick and twisted violence.”

In an exclusive interview with Aaron Katersky by ABC News, Adams said the gunman, who led through the country from Nevada, seemed to point to the headquarters of the NFL located in the building in 345 Park Avenue.

A note left by the shooter mentioned CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), although researchers were still working to determine the exact reason.

“We are far from the investigation to end exactly what happened,” Adams told ABC News. “We are looking at his note that he talked about CTE … but he is far from conclusive.”

A note written was found in the pocket of the suspicious shots of the center of Manhattan, Shane Tamura.

The mayor confirmed that the shooter had played secondary school football, not at the university or professional level.

The images of the security camera showed the methodical approach of the gun, Adams said.

“When you look at the tapes … there was only a total contempt for human life,” Adams said.

The shooter allowed a woman to pass with him unharmed, while attacked everyone else. Among those killed were Wesley Lepatner, a Blackstone employee and mother of two children; Didarul Islam, a New York police officer out of service; Safety Officer Aland Etienne; and Julia Hyman, a Rudin management employee. An NFL employee was also injured in the attack.

Adams praised the security measures of the building management, including having an armed security officer, emergency protocols and active shooting exercises.

“I think their actions saved the lives of many employees,” he said.

Jessica Chen, who was in the building during the shooting, described the terrifying scene of ABC News.

“We listen to multiple shots in rapid succession from the first floor,” he said. Chen and another 150 others locked in a conference room on the second floor.

“I sent a text message to my parents who loved them,” Chen told ABC News. “Nothing could have prepared any of us. I think we were all frozen.”

The mayor emphasized the need for more strict weapons control measures throughout the country, since it is in New York City as the largest city in the United States.

“The response to the shooters of this magnitude, the mass shooters, cannot be vigils. It must be legislation,” Adams said, questioning the availability of automatic weapons.

Two detective equipment to Las Vegas were sent to execute a search warrant in the shooter’s house and investigate the weapons used in the attack. The researchers discovered that other parts of the automatic weapon had been bought by another person, asking questions about the possible assistance in the crime.

Mayor Adams told ABC News that President Donald Trump called him and expressed his condolences and praised the New York police response. Adams praised the officers who entered the building during the active situation of the shooter.

“They entered the building with knowledge that there was a shooter present,” Adams said. “They didn’t expect, and they knew their moment was important.”
